Music by William J. Kirkpatrick
Arranged by Bruce Greer
Amazing! Bruce Greer has taken a favorite and familiar hymn, already arranged countless times, and given us an arrangement that is stunningly fresh, yet tasteful and uncontrived. It has a profound simplicity that never sinks to sentimentality. Warm, simple faith is both the focus of the text and the overall flavor of the piece. The rich harmonies of verse three will be a favorite spot, but all the voicings are nicely balanced and thoroughly accessible. The piano accompaniment is full but nicely playable. Easily prepared in a few rehearsals, the choir will ask to sing this one, again and again.
