Music Florida 2009 Seminars
Wednesday January 7th , 2009 2:30pm – 4:00pm

Seminar 1 - Resolving
Conflict by Manuel Garcia
If you are in the ministry, you will at some point
in your career face opposition. Sometimes the conflict will come as a result of your actions, words,
personality or style of leadership. Sometimes the conflict will come to you
even though you personally have done nothing to deserve the ill treatment. But you will face opposition nonetheless.
Jesus said, “Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute
you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.” (Matthew 5:11, KJV)
Avoid some of
the “potholes” in relationships and ministry that I have experienced and
endured through the years – many times at my own hands.
MANUEL (MANNY) GARCIA, II
Manny
Garcia is in his 18th year as the Associate Pastor / Music of the First Baptist
Church of Panama City, Florida. During his tenure, the Music Ministry has annually produced numerous
citywide musical and theatrical productions. Additionally, his Sanctuary Choir & Orchestra has
recorded numerous CD’s of sacred music. His youth choirs have toured both nationally and internationally. For more information concerning the
Music Ministry of First Baptist Church, please visit their website: www.firstbaptistpc.com.
His
church is experiencing phenomenal growth. While presently constructing a new worship center, the church has 3
identical morning worship services and a separate evening service - all with
their Sanctuary Choir & Orchestra providing a powerful worship dynamic.
Before
entering full-time music ministry, Manny was the choral director at Theodore
High School in Mobile, Alabama, where his choral program grew from 60 students
to over 450. While there he
directed 3 choirs, 2 show choirs, taught music theory and music appreciation.
He
earned his Bachelor’s and Master degrees in Music Education from the University
of South Alabama in Mobile. He
also attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Currently, he is completing the Doctor
of Musical Arts in Music Education degree through Boston University.
He
has been widely used as a choral adjudicator and as a children’s choir and
keyboard clinician. He has
also led worship for Hispanic mission trips to Cuba, Mexico and Venezuela.
He
and his wife, Margie, are the parents of two daughters, Megan & Meredith.
